The new Riverside Museum

Posted by bob wallace on Sunday, February 5, 2012, In : Scotland
Forming part of a wider complex this new museum now embraces the old transport museum as well which we visited on our tours in 2009. As usual for me I thought the old place ! was pretty outstanding and very accessible but i bet this is just fab.
There were so mnay section, old cars, engines etc and ships and it was that section that fascinated me, dad being a Navy man.
One pic here from the old museum. we look forward to seeing the new one in the future

Dublin and the `Book of Kells`

Posted by bob wallace on Friday, September 16, 2011, In : Ireland

Dublin university, a great place to stay, just one of the bestest places I have ever had the pleasure of frequenting, also the home of the most famous book in the world. The book of Kells, over 800 years old, first written in Iona by amazing monks, and then startlingly moving to  Ireland at Kells Monastery in County Meath. Then for safe keeping it’s off to Dublin in 1654, wow, these dates make my mind boggle at times especially from the perspective here in New Zealand. Not that NZ does not ...

The Liffey- What a great name for a River

Posted by bob wallace on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, In : Ireland

Well, Dublin’s heart, not one of the longest rivers in the world it’s only about 100 kms from its source away up in the Wicklow Mountains to Dublin bay, passing under 14 bridges on the way.

Edinburgh Military Tattoo- Come with us in 2012

Posted by bob wallace on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, In : Scotland

Yes I am glad to say I been there, played in it, in many ways, Edinburgh that is.  After my home town of Inverness, Edinburgh is the best city in the World, period.

Just nothing can compare for me the thrill of being in Edinburgh, although I have been in New Zealand 11 years, every time I go home, I often head to Edinburgh first to swallow up the atmosphere.

What better way then is to come with me, yes me, on one of our tours to Scotland, explore the rough country, my part of the World,...
